As Director of Communications, Dan is responsible for developing and implementing Communications Strategies for SVPMA. Dan has over 20 years of combined experience in product management and software engineering. He is currently a Product Manager at Kaiser Permanente. Prior to Kaiser, Dan held product management and engineering positions at Keynote Systems, Siperian, Actuate, and Oracle. Dan has a B.S. in Computer Science from Yale.
As Director of Programs, Debashish helps to identify topics and speakers for the monthly events. Debashish is a product management leader with over 12 years of experience in successfully bringing software products to market in the life sciences, enterprise content management, and related markets. He has held senior product management positions at companies such as Bioclinica and Veeva, and has also been a consultant to several global bio-pharma companies. Debashish also spent several years in engineering management at Oracle and i2. Earlier in his career he was a research scientist solving problems in image analysis, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. Debashish has a PhD in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
As Director of Special Events, John is responsible for managing SVPMA's job fair and social networking events. John is a product manager at Yapstone, focusing on building digital payments solutions. Before YapStone, he's served as a product manager at Visa and has spent over ten years as a software engineer at firms ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. When he's not wrestling with product issues, he enjoys watching movies, reading good sci-fi and history books, and fighting an ongoing battle with weeds in his family garden. John has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley and a MBA from Santa Clara University.
As Director of Workshops, Mayla helps to develop and manage SVPMA's workshop series. She is principal of MC Training specializing in presentation skills coaching and training. She works with accomplished professionals to increase their effectiveness in high stakes communication situations. She was Adjunct Professor for ten years in the Engineering Management Program at Santa Clara University and provides private coaching to senior leaders at Stanford University and Medical School. Many of her clients are Product Managers who work for companies such as Cisco Systems, eBay, Intuit, and NetApp. Mayla is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles and holds a Master's degree from California State University, San Jose.
As Director of Monthly Events and Speakers, Nupur is responsible for identifying topics and speakers for the monthly events. Nupur is a product management veteran with experience bringing new products to market to managing established products. In her current role, Nupur is responsible for marketing and strategy in the services and support organization at Juniper Networks. Prior to Juniper Nupur has held PM/Marketing roles at Brocade and Tellabs. Earlier in her career, Nupur held engineering roles at Tellabs, Venkani Info Systems and C-DOT, India. Nupur has a B.S in Computer Science and Business Management.
As Director of Finances, Sam is a Finance and Accounting Professional with over 25 years experience working with Start-ups to Public international companies. He also co-owns and operates his own consulting and marketing business. Sam has served as Controller, Director of Finance, Chief Administration Officer / Business Manager, and CFO in different industries. Sam’s wide industry experiences include professional services – law, engineering, mass communications, environmental services, construction, real estate, internet technology, non-profits and government / defense contractors. Sam graduated with a BS in Finance and an MBA in international Finance from Saint John’s University.
As SVPMA President, Shyla is responsible for the vision, long term strategy and growth of the organization. Shyla is a product management professional with over 16 years of experience in product management, consulting, and development. Shyla likes nothing more than solving problems and creating beautiful, lovable products that make peoples lives easier and more effective. She believes everything can be measured, analyzed, and improved. Shyla is the Head of Product at Wanteet. Prior to that, she held product manager, software engineer roles at Move, SAP, Sybase and Titan India. She also spent some time as product and strategy Consultant for early stage software companies and non-profits. She holds an MS in Computer Science from CMU and a MS in Mathematics from India. In the unlikely event that she has any free time, she can be found enjoying long hikes and exploring local neighborhood eateries with family & friends.
As a Director of Website and IT, Sree is responsible for handles our website and other IT Initiatives. Sree is a Sr Software Engineer working for Cisco Systems. He has over 8 years of software experience in the field of network and security. Prior to Cisco systems, Sree worked for Citrix and various startups in the valley.
As the Director of Product Camp Silicon Valley, Tom is the primary contact for this annual event. Tom also serves as board secretary, setting up board meetings and maintaining records. Tom's diverse experience in startups through Fortune 100 companies includes 6 years in product management, 12 years in technical marketing, 14 years in IT/Operations, and over forty successful product family launches. Tom is an expert in CyberSecurity (CISSP), Networking, and Telecommunications, and has an MBA and BS from Santa Clara University.
As Director of Sponsorships, Victor plays a key role by reaching out to successfully secure sponsorships and associated revenues from technology vendors, educational institutions, and other organizations whose interests and goals are relevant to the product management and product marketing communities. Victor is a product manager at eBay focused on global advertising and buyer experience. He has a special interest in consumer-facing web and mobile products. Prior to eBay he was product manager and co-founder at a mobile advertising startup. He started his career in Hewlett-Packard’s enterprise computing group and is a graduate of Purdue and University of Chicago.
