Talk Summary:

Building new products or new product features in-house may or may not be the right choice. There are other options, including buying the capabilities, partnering with another company, or even acquiring altogether. How do you decide? Which factors should you take into consideration beyond a pure cost comparison? In this session, we will define each of these go-to-market (GTM) approaches and share a decision framework for deciding how to proceed. You will also learn how to segment markets using the Ansoff Matrix (existing vs. new products), determine whether you have a competitive advantage by mapping the two critical criteria for build vs. buy vs. partner vs. acquire, use Product Growth Leaders’ Build, Buy, Partner, or Acquire Matrix for decision-making, and determine the success criteria for building, buying, partnering, or acquiring.
