Accelerating Value: Lean Flow and Kanban in Product Management and Development

A photo of Greg Cohen

All too often our product development process feels like a congested highway: everyone is working hard yet we’re just not getting anywhere fast. In this session, lean product management expert Greg Cohen will discuss the principles and rules to restore the flow of value in the product development process and becoming a high performing product organization.

The talk covers how to adopt a Lean mindset and apply that to the product management process with larger projects. We will look at product management and development as a single value stream. Although the principles covered work for all methods of Agile, we will cover an alternative development methodology that may be of particular value for participants whose teams have struggled to succeed with the rigid boundaries of traditional Scrum.

Key topics covered include:

  1. The economics of Lean
  2. How to leverage Lean to deliver rapid and regular value to your customers
  3. How to sequence projects to create flow
  4. Kanban and balancing discovery and development workstreams
  5. The metrics to collect and how to use them to drive continuous improvement
